The cooperation of the Republic of Moldova with the International Sugar Organization

January 14, 2019, London - Sugar factories in the Republic of Moldova are among the most efficient in the region. The statement was made by the Executive Director of the International Sugar Organization (OIZ) Jose Orive during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United Kingdom, Angela Ponomariov. During the discussion, a review was made of Moldova's cooperation within the ISO, addressing the developments and prospects for the sugar industry in the Republic of Moldova. Referring to the existing cooperation with the Republic of Moldova, the Executive Director noted the productive communication with the Moldovan side, underlining that sugar factories in the Republic of Moldova are among the most efficient in the region.

The officials referred to the European Union's initiative to amend the International Sugar Agreement in 1992, expressing the interest of the Moldovan side to amend the article on the minimum number of votes held by the Member States. It was also proposed to organize the visit to Chisinau of the ISO Executive Director.

Republic of Moldova joined the ISO in 1998. The International Sugar Organization is the unique intergovernmental body devoted to improving conditions on the world's sugar market through Debate, Analysis, Special Studies, Transparent Statistics, Seminars, Conferences, Workshops, as well as by organizing various activities aimed at promoting globally the cooperation in the sugar industry.
