The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in London had a meeting with the Head of Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Office of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth

The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in London, Angela Ponomariov, had a meeting with Mr William Middleton, Head of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate, at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, to discuss issues related to the priorities of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The interlocutors expressed their mutual satisfaction regarding the dynamics of the bilateral political dialogue and appreciated the consistent efforts of both states in promoting cooperation in various fields, including by organizing visits at the highest level. At the same time, they emphasised the interest of strengthening economic relations, by mentioning the importance of concluding the bilateral Agreement on political and trade partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the United Kingdom, which will replace the Republic of Moldova-EU Association Agreement.

Also, during the discussions, the bilateral cooperation in the field of defense was appreciated, especially regarding the support given by the British side in the training, the elaboration of the strategic documents within the Defense Capacity Building Initiative, as well as the preparation of the Moldovan military for the Cambrian Patrol international competition, which takes place every year in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Director William Middleton emphasized the willingness of the United Kingdom to support our country and the interest in advancing the post-Brexit bilateral cooperation.
